After graduating from a lovely art college, I found myself attracted to different artistic traditions. A newly realized beauty in medieval art, where technically inaccurate perspective became a unique visually asset, expanded my vobulary.
Islamic miniature paintings presented like gems and jewels. Their brilliant color and simplified forms could transport me to a magical and timeless worlds.
Artists like Morandi, Klee, Botero and Leonora Carrington expanded artistic possibilities further. How Morandi made ordinary objects feel like living beings. Then came fascination with Botero’s coherent worlds, governed by their singular visual logic.
Klee taught me how little is needed to open mysterious doors.
A turning point came at meeting outsider art. Now, my practice gradually moved away from established art conventions.
I felt compelled to explore my own personal visual language, that seem to describe autonomous worlds.
I reveled in how these drawings and paintings began to take on a life of their own. I found myself being both explorer and spectator.
Some of the images I dressed in paint. They became inhabitants in world realms of their own habitation.
